A BILL

To amend title 28, United States Code, to prohibit attorneys for the Government who are sanctioned by a court from temporarily representing the Government.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ``Federal Prosecutorial Accountability Act''.

SEC. 2. TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF SANCTIONED ATTORNEYS FROM REPRESENTING THE GOVERNMENT.

Section 530B(b) of title 28, United States Code, is amended-- (1) by striking ``The'' and inserting ``(1) The''; and (2) by adding at the end the following: ``(2)(A) The rules described in paragraph (1) shall provide for barring an attorney for the Government from representing the Government in court and filings for 1 year if a court has imposed sanctions under rule 11 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure on the attorney. ``(B) The Office of Professional Responsibility of the Department of Justice shall carry out the rules described in subparagraph (A).''. <all>
