A BILL

To nullify the applicability of the Act of July 2, 1948, with respect to the territory of the Seneca Nation of Indians in New York, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ``Seneca Nation Law Enforcement Efficiency Act''.

SEC. 2. NULLIFICATION OF EFFECT OF LAW.

(a) Definition of Territory.--In this section, the term ``territory'' means any land of the Seneca Nation of Indians that is Indian country (as defined in section 1151 of title 18, United States Code). (b) Nullification.--Subject to written concurrence of the Attorney General and the Seneca Nation of Indians, the jurisdiction granted to the State of New York by the Act of July 2, 1948 (62 Stat. 1224, chapter 809; 25 U.S.C. 232), shall not apply with respect to the territory of the Seneca Nation of Indians, subject to the condition that the Attorney General shall consult in advance with the Seneca Nation of Indians and the State of New York prior to making such concurrence. <all>
